National Sports Festival: Why FCT Will Award Athletes On Thursday - Minister

  FCT Ministry Confirms Thursday Athletes Award Day By Niyi Busari The Ministry of Federal Capital Territory has fulfilled its promises as it picked Thursday 15th October, 2020 as the day to award victorious athletes in the 2018 National Sports Festival hosted by FCT, BSNSports.com.ng reports. FCT Minister of state, Ramatu Tijjani who confirmed the date in fulfilment of her promise to Abuja residents during her visit to the camp of the athletes at Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Abuja in February said the decision is taken to encourage and boost the morale of athletes who made FCT proud during the 19th National Sports Festival and also to encourage them to do better in their next outing in Edo state. Recall that FCT finished 7th on the final medals table of the 2018 National Sports Festival with 54 medals; 21 gold, 9 silver and 24 bronze medals. FCT recorded her best performance ever in tournament in 2018. The former minister of sports, Solomon Dalung made sure that the 19th National Sports Festival was hosted by FCT after six years of wait as athletes competed for medals in different sports. It started on December 6th and ended 16th December, 2020.
