National Sports Festival Will Hold When …. Minister of Sports

The minister of youth and sports, Sunday Dare has disclosed that the national sports festival will hold this year once the Presidential Task Force (PTF) and Federal Government lift restriction on contact sports.
Sunday Dare revealed this at the national artificial intelligence and robotics hub unveiling in Abuja where he stated that the ministry is working assiduously with PTF and FG on modalities for lifting of restriction on contact sports and hopefully in the next two weeks that can be achieved.
‘We submitted modalities on how restriction on sports can be lifted some two months ago and so far restriction on non-contact sports has been lifted and very soon that of the contact sports will also be lifted’
The minister went on to state that ‘Edo state is ready to host, unfortunately, factors beyond the organiser’s control like COVID-19 forced a postponement of Nigeria’s own Olympics but we are hoping that all will be laid to rest soon’.
He also stated that the national sports festival will be held in a staggered format due to covid -19
‘Because of coronavirus and due the fact that we also want to ensure that due diligence is carried out, the festival may witness a departure from the past in terms of organisation as the competition may be staggered which means not every sports will be held at the same time
‘some events may be held first which will allow the organiser to manage and control things before other events will follow simultaneously, the minister stated.
