National Trials: Minister Of Sports Heaps Praises On Athletes By Sampson Adedeji Following their commitment and amazing performances at the just concluded National athletes trials in Lagos, Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Sunday Dare has heaped praises on athletes for their patriotism, BSNSports.com.ng can reports. Athletes both home and abroad gathered Yaba Technical College in Lagos, venue of the national trials trying to secure a slot for the forthcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. Athletes like Blessing Okagbare, Tobi Amusan etc were able to smash records and create new ones to the admiration of fans and supporters including Minister of Sports. Minister while reacting to pressmen, said he was happy with the reactions of athletes and also appreciate them for heeding to the clarion call. "I think that this opportunity to compete in national trials is critical, two months ago I said unless you come to national trial you will not make team Nigeria." "And we saw athletes both home and abroad, they heed the clarion call because they love this country and they are patriotic. "They didn't just obey but put in their best performance." "I want to thank them for their patriotism and professionalism and I think from this national trials, we can sit back within 48 to 72 hours and pick the Nigeria team that will go to Tokyo 2020 Olympic games," he said.
