NBBF SIGNS 2 YEARS DEAL WITH TOTAL E&P LIMITED By Admin The Nigeria Basketball Federation has signed a 2 year contract with Total E&P Nigeria Limited worth sixty million for the National Divisions 1 and 2 leagues BSN authoritatively reveals. The deal has been described by the President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Engr. Musa Kida as a unique breakthrough for the domestic league in the history of Nigerian Basketball. “This partnership with Total E&P Nigeria Limited is in fulfillment of one of my cardinal objectives as the president of the federation. “One of my cardinal goals and objectives as President of NBBF is to take basketball to the grassroots, so that our Youths and other stakeholders of the game who have been neglected for so long would have the opportunity of competing effectively right in their backyards.” The contract between NBBF and Total marks a significant beginning in the development of basketball in the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). “The NBBF board has decided to formulate a new league format for the lower divisions to maximize the likely benefits thereof, as we work around the clock to deliver on our promise of securing a better life for players and officials who are the major actors in our quest to take basketball to its desired level." Engr Kida thanked the new sponsor for the hand of fellowship extended to the federation in the past when they hosted the D’Tigeress and D’Tigers after their 2017 Afrobasket exploits. He applauded Total’s commitment to sponsor the National Divisions 1 and 2 leagues  which again affirms the love the company has for Nigerian sports. “This commitment which underscores the importance the company attaches to its Corporate Social Responsibility is geared towards uplifting the Nigerian youths is an epoch event in the annals of Nigerian Basketball because it is the first time the federation is securing sponsorship for any of its lower leagues”, Kida said. The NBBF assured Total of its continued resolve to run a transparent federation and keep its end of the bargain in a relationship that is expected to last for a long time. While signing the contract at the Corporate headquarters of the company, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Total E&P, Nigeria Ltd, Nicholas Terraz said the sponsorship is another way of reinforcing their partnership with Nigeria to support the development of Nigerian Sports. “Today, we take the bold step to sponsor Nigerian basketball. By so doing, we acknowledge that we are part of the make up of Nigeria where we have been for more than 60 years. We are only too aware that in Nigeria, sports simply means unity, friendship, solidarity and energy.” Terraz believes that the partnership is a start of a journey that will benefit NBBF and the Total brand hoping that the latest synergy will spur Nigerian basketball teams to greater glory in both local and international campaigns.  The event had in attendance Directors of Total E&P, Nigeria Ltd, officials of the Ministry of Youth And Sports, NBBF board members, state basketball association chairmen, club proprietors, basketball stakeholders and members of the media.
