Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi will be out for 12 weeks, Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers has revealed.
Ndidi suffered an abductor injury in Sunday’s Premier League win over Burnley and was absent from the matchday squad for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal.
Speaking after the game, Rodgers disclosed Leicester City’s official website, that the Nigeria International will need to be absent for weeks due to his groin injury.
“We’re just waiting to hear more on that but it could be anything between six and 12 weeks,” Rodgers said. “It’s a groin abductor which may have come off the bone, which is quite a nasty one. We’re waiting to see if he eeds an operation or not. If he does, it will be at least 12 weeks.”
Leicester missed Ndidi for five-of-six games in early 2020 and went 2D-3L, starting a skid that ended up costing them Champions League football.
The 23-year-old already has 34 caps for Nigeria.
Ndidi has pulled out of the Nigeria squad for the upcoming games against Ivory Coast and Tunisia as a result of the ailment.
