Former Nigeria Professional League Chairman and Proprietor Nembe City Football Club, Chief Baribote Rumson has described the withdrawal of the pioneer chairman of the League Management Company LMC, Nduka Irabor as laughable.
Chief Baribote in a telephone chat with Creek FM Sports in Yenagoa said quitting the league at this moment when the system is in disarray is of no importance to Nigerians because Nduka Irabor has discovered that the NPFL is in a terrible state as there is no free money to squander.
The former Bayelsa United chairman explained that despite the billions of naira invested in the league from 2011 to 2018 through TV rights when the league was rated the best in the continent, the league is yet to get pass that stage, pointing out that from 2011 till date the LMC has not given clubs a dime and referees are still been owed three years allowances.
On the proposed resumption of the league on the 20th of October according the Minister of Youth and Sports Development Mr. Sunday Dare, the Nembe born administrator said he is not sure of the date of commencement due to uncertainties surrounding the Nigeria Football Federation.
He however called the Nigeria Football Federation and League Management Company to tell Nigerians why the league is yet to commence.
