Nembe City FC Grabs multi million dollars AITEO Deal. By Adewale Ajayi .... Oil company agrees to conditions put forward by NLO club. Nationwide league side, Nembe City FC, are on the verge of becoming the richest lower league side as discussions with multinational Oil company, AITEO, to take over the running of the club nears completion. Former NPL chairman and proprietor of the Nembe based club, Chief Rumson Baribote is already dreaming dollars after the oil company agreed to the terms and conditions put forward by the community based club at the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) only a few days back. As a prerequisite to their continued existence in the Niger Deltan enclave, AITEO has agreed to a win win partneeship deal that will be beneficial to all involved. Nembe City, formerly in the NPL as at 2014/2015 season, dropped to the NNL and went further down the ladder to the Nationwide league, following some internal crisis caused by serious financial mess. They have struggled since then, to stay afloat due to paucity of funds. Under the new arrangement which will be signed and sealed on May 1, 2018, AITEO will take charge of the team's welfare which includes players salaries, bonuses , medicals and upkeep. They will finance all their trips and will brand the club jersey and bus in the 2017/2018 NLO season which is currently ongoing. Baribote and his very influencial wife, a barrister in law and a passionate supporter of the club have spent their hard earned monies in making sure the pride of Nembe town is sustained despite the obvious difficulties. Now, the time to smile has come for the former NPL chairman who revolutionalised the round leather game in Nigeria with the many innovations introduced to making the Nigeria premier league what it is today. Unfortunately, his tenure as NPFL chairman was cut short by a palace coup as he was swept off a goldmine provided by Total promotions and other mouth watering sponsorship deals.. A strong ally of ambassador Chris Giwa, winner of the controversial Chida election that threw Nigeria football into three years of unbearable crisis, is today back in school pursuing a degree in Law and planning to relaunch himself into mainstream football administration.
