New Conditions In Rohr's Contract Is For The Developments Of Nigeria Football - Sunday Dare

Minister of Youth and sports Hon Sunday Dare has stated that the new conditions inserted into the contract of Nigeria's Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr is solely for the development of the game In the country.

The Nigeria Football Federation inserted new conditions into the new contract offered the Franco-german coach which has generated a lot of debates among the football followers in the country and beyond,BSN Reports.

Dare, while speaking a Brila fm Radio said they studied and reviewed the past years Rohr has spent in Nigeria and thought some conditions need to be introduced in order to develop the game.

" Just as you said, Football is king amongst Sports, so the process of selecting the coach has to be in the global standard,’ Dare told Brila FM.

‘Even before I became Minister, there are processes and procedures that are followed when it comes to bringing on a new national coach or renewing the contract of a coach who is already in the house and I think it was important for us to follow the processes and procedures in place.

‘He had the right of first refusal, that was what the NFF did. It is best practice, it is the global practice but the NFF also had a review of his performance in the last three years, and based on that review, we saw lapses and inserted new conditions that were not there before.

“Some of the conditions bother on the mode of payment, while some are technical issues regarding the development of our football and that to me, is fundamental," he concluded.
