Newcastle United set to confirm new manager this week

Newcastle
Newcastle United are set to appoint a new manager before the week ends as they conclude negotiations. There have been reports that the club held talks with former AS Roma manager Paulo Fonseca earlier this month to replace Steve Bruce but both parties couldn't come to an agreement with the club turning their attention elsewhere. Graeme Jones who is currently in charge on an interim basis said last week that he would be in the dugout for this weekend's Chelsea game but that is expected to change after the weekend. Frank Lampard and Lucien Favre are some of the names that have been linked with the job and according to German publication Bild, the latter is now the favourite to land the job. It is claimed that talks are at an advanced stage with Fonseca now dropping to their second choice option with the club set to have a new manager when they take on Brighton and Hove Albion at the start of November. 63-year-old Favre has been out of a job since being sacked by Borussia Dortmund in December 2020. The season before, he helped lead Dortmund to win the German Super Cup. https://twitter.com/oddschecker/status/1452986105113059328
