NFF Denies Owing Rohr, Explains Why Dennerby Resigns

The Nigeria Football Federation has denied owing Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr three months salary, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The federation on its official twitter handle admitted that they are owing the Franco-German tactician only September salary and said that they are working on settling the payment.

"The NFF wishes to put records straight with regards to a claim in the social media on Friday, 11th October 2019 that the football house is owing Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, three months’ salary.

"As we speak, Mr. Rohr is only being owed salary for the month of September 2019, which is being processed.

BSN Sports had reported that NFF is owing the Franco-German tactician a 3-month salary following the NFF's Committee member and sports journalist, Osasu Obayiuwana revelation on his twitter handle.

NFF also cleared the air on how and why former Super Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby resigned and left angrily for his country.

"As for Mr. Thomas Dennerby, we have received his resignation letter and of course, he has his right to resign from a job.

"We want to put it on record that no Head Coach in the history of the Super Falcons has been afforded the level and readiness of support that has been provided Mr. Dennerby by this Board.

"Perhaps, one of the reasons he left was because we did not accede to his request to bring in more expatriate coaches and an indigenous coach who do not have the required license." The statement on the twitter handle reads.

Recall that Thomas Dennerby left Nigeria for Sweden after he guided the Super Falcons to beat Algeria women national team (3-0 aggregate) in the 2020 Olympic Games.

After he left the NFF appointed Christopher Danjuma as interim coach and Danjuma in turn stripped of captain arm band from Desire Oparanozie and announced Asisat Oshoala as the new captain, a decision which caused hole and division in the team.

As obvious and faulty as NFF decision was, the Super Falcons were bundled out of the 2020 Olympic qualification by the women national team of Cote d'Ivoire after playing a 1-1 draw on aggregate.
