SUPREME COURT JUDGEMENT ON NFF: Football Intermediaries call for caution Akeem Busari The recent supreme court pronouncement on the protracted matter of legitimacy between the Ambassador Chris Giwa and Amaju Pinnick factions, has been described as worrisome and dangerous to the fortunes of Nigerian football. This was the view held by executives and members of the Football Intermediaries Association of Nigeria ( FIAN), in a statement signed by its national president, Michael Sodeke and made available to the press. It stated; " This latest pronouncement of the supreme court portends danger and bad omen for the future of our football. And it is coming at a period of relative peace and progress in our football." The statement further admonished the parties involved to show more patriotism and genuine concerns for the fortunes of Nigerian football. " We ( FIAN) are appealing to all concerned parties and the stakeholders to seek a way out of this unfortunate situation for the general benefit of Nigerian football." Conclusively, it added that a FIFA ban would literally kill Nigerian football and end the aspirations and fortunes of thousands of footballers, coaches, managers and investors in the local football.
