NFF Official Boasts EFCC 'Distraction' Will Soon Be Over
By Admin
One of the top NFF officials being investigated by the EFCC over squandered sponsorship monies running into billions of Naira has boasted a top official of the anti-graft agency is “co-operating” with them so as to soon let them off the hook.
This is coming just days after the impounded international passports of the NFF officials were returned to them after they requested they plan to push a powerful lobby to FIFA in Switzerland for Nigeria to be granted the hosting rights for next year’s U20 Women’s World Cup.
The top official told a fellow NFF executive committee member: “We are very confident that all these distractions caused by the EFCC investigation will soon blow away because we have got the co-operation of one of their bosses.”
Further investigations revealed that the high-ranking EFCC operative is from Northern Nigeria and simply goes by the name Mohammed.
He was reportedly the man who ensured NFF 2nd vice president Shehu Dikko and general secretary Mohammed Sanusi were not detained when they were first drilled by the anti-corruption agency in Lagos even though there was enough evidence to hold them.
In the meantime, Sanusi will face another round of grilling on Monday in Lagos as the investigation continues.
The embattled NFF officials have also been employing their “powerful backers” to also put pressure on ICPC to call off their wide-ranging investigation of the NFF.
They claim they have made “great progress” in this regard.
