'NFF Officials To Use AGF To Circumvent The Rule of Law, ' Says Buhari Is Not In Control of Gov't

Basic Sports in Nigeria (BSN Sport) can report that the Nigeria Football Federation bigwigs have allegedly boasted that they have the support and backing of powerful government officials like the Attorney General of Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami to circumvent the rule of law.

This is on the backdrop of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission invitation of all Amaju Pinnick-led NFF executive committee members to the anti-graft agency headquarter to clear their names on allegations of misappropriation of funds leveled against the federation.

Aside the Special Presidential Investigative Panel who has indicted the top NFF officials after their investigation, several allegations of misappropriation and misapplication of government funds, FIFA development grants as well as sponsorship monies running into billions of Naira have been leveled against the Amaju Pinnick-led NFF.

Recall that Special Presudential Investigative Panel indicted Pinnick, NFF 1st Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi, Shehu Dikko, NFF General Secretary, Sanusi Mohammed and Ahmed Yusuf Fresh but they are yet to report themselves to the panel despite a warrant of arrest granted to the panel.

This time, in a desperate orchestrated plan to circumvent and lack of respect for the rule of law, Pinnick led NFF is counting on the intervention of the AGF, Malami to use his office and issue a press release in the coming days to save them once again from facing the anti-graft agency.

"We all know Buhari is not in control of this government, some people are and we are going to use one of them to get out of this," one of the NFF officials boasts.

"A press release will be issued from his office next week and that will clear the air, then, all the noise will go to the back seat."

"Again and again the NFF officials have proved to be above the law and this is because they claim they have the full support and backing of the powerful government officials like Malami, " a source informed SCORENigeria

"But not even the AGF can interfere with criminal investigations as is the case here.

"Pinnick and others have to clear their names themselves in a court of law"

However, anti-corruption agency ICPC invited and grilled Amaju Pinnick over another allegation of misappropriation of funds. Meanwhile NFF board member and chairman of the finance Otunba Dele Ajayi exposed the high level of corruption in.the federation. Otunba Ajayi has said that he will testify against them in court.
