NFF, Others To Receive CAF Largesse

Few weeks after World soccer governing body (FIFA) released $500,000 to its member federations, Confederation of African Football ( CAF) has promised to release funds to Association Members, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The football federations has been encountering financial issues due to the outbreak of Corona virus which halted football across the world. The fund is said to serve as support to the local management of football hit hard by the pandemic of COVID-19.

CAF held its meeting on Thursday via video conferencing and it was agreed that $10.8m should be giving to each member nations.

The breakdown means Nigeria football federation alongside other member will get $200,000 as their own share of the cash.

“During its meeting of Thursday May 28, 2020 held by videoconference, the CAF Emergency Committee approved the immediate distribution of financial grants to Member Associations (AM) to support the local management of football hit hard by the pandemic of COVID-19.

"A global sum of 10.8 million USD will be transferred to the 54 Association Members (AMs) of the continent as part of a relief plan intended to ease the financial burden of the African football community in these unprecedented times," the statements reads.
