NFF plans to reposition female football in the country

Following the ouster of Nigeria's Super Falcons from the qualifier of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Nigeria Football Federation has concluded an arrangement to restructure female football in the country, BSNSports.com.ng understands.

Cote d'Ivoire played out a 1-1 draw with Super Falcons at the Agege stadium in Lagos on Monday and progressed via away goal rule after recording a goalless draw in the first leg in Abidjan last Thursday.

Head of Technical Department of the football body, Bitrus Bewarang hinted that proposals are already on ground to resuscitate the dwindling fortune of female football in the country.

"Look, our emphasis will be focused on the development of women’s football generally,” Bewarang said.

"But we shall certainly give priority to the national women’s team because the Super Falcons is already a brand and we must develop it to attract sponsors.

"It is unfortunate that other countries in Africa are catching up with us and it’s very disturbing that Super Falcons hardly win matches easily as they used to do in the past. We must find solution; but I sincerely apologize to Nigerians for the Falcons exit from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics," he concluded
