NFF Set To Announce Finidi, Aigbogun, Bosso As Eaglets, Flying Eagles, And Home-Based Eagles Coaches
By Niyi Busari
According to reports, the Nigeria Football Federation within the next ten days may announce former Nigeria International Finidi George as the Head Coach of the Golden Eaglets, while Paul Aigbogun is rumoured to return back as the Head Coach of the Flying Eagles.
Exclusivenews.com.ng revealed that power play is on going to determine who handles the various national teams.
According to the source, a helmsman in the Football Federation is insisting on ensuring that the two tacticians from the South South Geo- political zone of the country are given the opportunity of handling the two youth teams.
This, the source further gathered, has been against the wish of many members of the Technical Committee who believed that Paul Aigbogun failed woefully in the last edition of the U-20 tournament where he assembled what Nigerians believed was the worst U-20 team ever.
Paul Aigbogun's boys were knocked out of the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland by their West African neighbours, Senegal in the quarter-final.
Nigeria 's underwhelming display at the Fifa U20 World Cup came to an end after a 2-1 defeat to Senegal Round of 16 fixture. Amadou Sagna and Ibrahima Niane's goals in the first half were enough for Senegal to see off the Flying Eagles as Success Makanjuola's effort turned out to be a consolation goal.
Meanwhile, the much reported return of Salisu Yusuf to the Super Eagles may have suffered a hiccup, as the Supervising Ministry is against his return to the team because of the negative image his return will give to the Super Eagles, which is the major brand of the country’s football. It could be recalled that Salisu Yusuf was caught by undercover journalists trying to collect bribe while handling the Super Eagles Team B in an international assignment. As punishment for his sin, Salisu was banned for one year.
In his place, there is every indication that Ladan Bosso will be drafted to the Super Eagles as the First Assistant Coach and Head Coach of the Home based Eagles.
