NFF Should Work With Ex-Internationals To Achieve Better Results - Akwuegbu

Former Nigeria international Benedict Akwuegbu has advised the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to work with qualified ex-international players to achieve better results that will improve the game as it is in the developed nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports..

Akwuegu who played for Nigeria for almost to 19 years said he discovered that some former national team players after their football career, went to class to study sports related courses like coaching, sports management and are qualified and capable of adding value to the country's football development.

The former Golden Eaglets, Flying Eagles and Super Eagles player accused NFF of being biased by selecting and recycling those that have been in the system for years while neglecting those who made themselves available and have the capacity to contribute positively to the development of the game.

Speaking with www.bsnsports.com.ng from his base in England, Benedict said:

"Nigeria is a big name in football and that is because Nigerian players achievement in the game. The Nigeria Football Federation should as a matter of fact carry more ex-internationals who have served this country and are qualified to take the game to the next level."

"They (NFF) only works with selected few and keep recycling them but never open doors for those whose ideas could take the game to turn peak.

He added that Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians and should be treated equally by giving positions to those who deserves to be at the helm of affair.

"Working with selected few and shut the door against the qualified will do more damage than good to the game, Nigeria belongs to every Nigerians and one should not be favoured over others.
