By Admin

The Nigeria Football Federation is set to reveal the coaches for the age-grade national teams ahead of some critical matches ahead either on Friday or Saturday.

It will be recalled that the NFF earlier this year confirmed the position of the head coach for various national teams were vacant, except for Super Eagles.

The NFF, disclosed that the technical crew for the Golden Eaglets, Flying Eagles, Dream Team and home base Super Eagles have been moved on and will be hunting for their replacements.

The U20 female side, known as the Falconets would be hoping to pick one of Africa’s tickets to Costa Rica & Panama when qualifiers get underway in March ahead of the 2020 World Cup.

Similarly, the Flamingoes as the Nigeria U17 women’s team is called will begin their quest for a place in the U17 Women’s World Cup billed for India when the qualifying series begin in February.

Speaking with NFF’s Technical Director, Bitrus Bewarang, he said there is no cause for alarm as adhoc arrangement have been made to take charge of the teams pending when the substantive coaches will be announced.

“All efforts are being done to see that we get these coaches especially Falconets that their competition is less than a month to go. Infact, the camp will open this Sunday, we have made an adhoc arrangement so that the camp can start." Bitrus told thesportsbay.com

“The Flamingoes will have a fresh squad and we want the coaches to start from the scratch. By tomorrow (today) or next, we will reveal the names of those coaches. The NFF is not resting on their oars,” he said.

Bitrus further commended the coaches from the Nigeria Women Premier League who sent in names of players from their club sides who fall into the age category to represent the country.

“We have got in touch with the coaches of the women league who are preparing for a new season and they have sent players in their teams that are within the age group. That won’t be a problem as the players will be in shape since they are coming from the league.

So I want to commend the coaches of the women league who have graciously helped us with the compilation of these players,” he said.
