NFF To Pay Rohr $100,000 For April, May Salaries

By Admin

Super Eagles Technical Adviser/Head Coach Gernot Rohr would be paid $100,000 by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) being his outstanding wages for the months of April and May soonest.

What is delaying the payment is the need for the federation’s chieftains to seek the permission of the board members to effect it using the World Cup cash from Coca-Cola.

Rohr earns $50,000 monthly, although he uses part of the wages to pay his two assistants as agreed by the contract he signed with Nigeria, which was renewed last month.

Sportinglife gathered that the initial firm, AITEO which used to pay Rohr’s wages have withdrawn such financial support citing the precarious economic situation in the world, arising from the Coronavirus pandemic which has affected their production, culminating in a reduction in its staff strength to cut down cost.

The spiral effect of the withdrawal of the sponsor is that the backroom staff would no longer be paid match bonuses per game which was the practice in the past. Details of the new mode of payment for these backroom staff were still sketchy when Sportinglife sought clarifications from those who should know at the Sunday Dakaro House in Abuja.
