Niger United, Plateau Peacocks win Prudent Energy HandballI League By Cosmos Chukwuemeka Akisi Niger United and Plateau Peacocks have won the Prudent Energy Energy Handball League. In front of a capacity crowd at the Rowe Park Sports Center during the grand finale of the league, Niger United comfortably defeated Owena Kings 35-23 36 points to win the men league while Plateau Peacocks outscored Seasiders Babes 37-26 to bag the women league title. They will represent Nigeria at the Handball Africa club Championships and got =N=1 million naira each for winning the league. Lagos Seasiders and Safety Shooters will represent Nigeria in Handball Africa club winners cup which is the second tier Handball clubs competition in the continent. Lagos Seasiders defeated Bornu Spiders 39-31 to come second in the league with 35 points while Safety defeated Prison Key Boys 31-22 to emerge third on the log with 34 points. They each received =N=750,000 and =N=500,000 for coming second and third respectively In the women league, Safety Babes and Imo grasshoppers will represent Nigeria in Handball Africa club winners cup. Safety Babes confirmed their second position placement with 30points Abia Valliants after defeating 33-23 while Imo grasshoppers came third with 27 points. They each received a cash prize of =N=750,000 and =N=500,000 for coming second and third respectively.
