Nigeria, 11 Other Country Attend CAF GS Academy in Ethiopia By Admin The second phase of the CAF General Secretary Academy for Anglophone members opened on Monday, 5 November 2018, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with General Secretaries of 12 National Associations in attendance, BSN Sports reports. Scheduled for 5-9 November 2018 in the Ethiopian capital, it concludes the sessions for Anglophone speaking countries after maiden seminar from 22-26 October 2018 in Windhoek, Namibia. With support from UEFA through its UEFA Assist Program, the GS Academy was developed to address practical issues faced by General Secretaries in their daily work, by providing essential knowledge, tools and network needed to successfully and strategically manage football federations. The five-day seminar facilitated by experts from UEFA in the field of Management, Finance, Marketing and Communications, also provides a platform for participants to exchange ideas and share knowledge towards improving their core duties at their federations. UEFA Head of International Relations, Eva Pasquier, said the seminar has been designed in with emphasis on practicality to reflect the daily routine of a General Secretary, the head of day-to-day administration in most federations. “It is just the first day, but the sessions have been very informative and an eye-opener on many fronts. It has been a fantastic experience and I’m optimistic the knowledge will impact positive on the administrative and managerial levels of my federation,” said Wilfried Kidao from Tanzania. Cape Verde’s Dan Merkel observed: “The opening session was great and the facilitators made it very interactive. I’m happy to be part of this seminar and I commend CAF and UEFA on the partnership that gave birth to this program”. Also attending are the zonal unions and Nicholas Musonye, General Secretary of the Council for Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), who lauded the active involvement of all participants. “There has been good interactive engagement from all participants. The content for the seminar is very useful,” Musonye said. Participants are from Cape Verde, Eritrea, Kenya, Libya, Nigeria, Seychelles, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and Zanzibar. According CAF website the Francophone speaking countries will have their turn with two seminars next year; Djibouti from 14-19 January, and finally Morocco from 25 February to 01 March.
