Nigeria defeats Host Guinea in IHF International Trophy

Nigeria under 18 female handball team had to dig deep to defeat host Guinea 32-31 in the first game of IHF International Trophy (Continental Phase) on Wednesday

The cadet team needed a buzzer shot in the dying seconds of the keenly contested match between the foes to secure the first victory for Nigeria in the competition.

The two teams were meeting for the first time since they played each last year at the Turnoi du France in Ivory Coast in which Guinea defeated Nigeria to win the championship at the time.

The Nigerian team with four new players added to the team that played against their host last year, played their heart out to secure a much needed victory.

At 59:58mins played with just two seconds to go, the scores were even at 31:31 then Nigeira gained a nine metres play.
