Nigeria defeats Uganda To Win IHF International Challenge Trophy (Continental Championship)

Nigeria defeated Uganda 39-25 to be crowned Champion of the IHF international challenge trophy (continental championship) on Saturday in Conakry, Guinea.

The national under 18 women team defeated every team to win the competition and qualify for the CAHB Africa Nations Cup in September.

The cadet girls team had defeated host Guinea 32-31 before seeing off Cameroon 35-22 and then thrashing Zambia 38-12.

It wasn't however easy for girls as they fought tooth and nail against Uganda in the first half to win 16-15 before closing shop in the second half as they defeated the East Africans 23-10 to wrap up the game 39-25.

President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria Mr. Samuel Ocheho has expressed joy at the feat of the team and has promised that the federation will ensure that the team get the best of preparation for the nations cup.
