NFCA Urges NFF To Pay National Team Coaches, Players Outstanding Wages

Nigeria Football Coaches Association, NFCA on Tuesday during their inaugural meeting of the Executive Committee in Abuja urged the Nigeria Football Federation to pay all outstanding bonus and allowances they are owing the national team coaches and players, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In the communique released after the meeting the Association frowned at the way the coaches and players who served their fatherland were being owed without assurance of when the outstanding payment will be made.

The communique read in part:

"In addition to making a strong case for prompt payment of its members on national assignments, the Executive Committee requested from the Nigeria Football Federation, the payment of outstanding wages and entitlement of national team coaches and players from the Nigeria Football Federation.

1. The Executive Committee requested for a more vibrant and functional Technical Department of Nigeria Football Federation for optimal performance of both coaches and players.

Recently, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland protested over non-payment of their bonuses and allowance. The Falconets have not been paid their Women's U20 World Cup qualifiers entitlement since 2016, the Golden Eaglets have not received their allowances after picking World Cup ticket at the CAF U17 African Nations Cup in Tanzania.

Also, the Association called for the commencement of 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup preparation as the championship is few weeks away.

"Considering that the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Championship, Brazil 2019 is just around the corner, the Executive Committee further pleaded with the Nigeria Football Federation to, as a matter of urgency, invite the male National Under 17 team, the Golden Eaglets to camp in preparation for the cadet Championship."

Nigeria holds the highest record of winning the championship in the world, having won it a total of five times.
