Nigeria League saga: Siasia bears his mind
By Niyi Busari
Following the unending war between League Management Company and Nigeria National League that delayed the resumption of the new season, former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has expressed unhappiness with the situations.
The two football body has been at loggerheads for months after LMC declared Lobi Stars league winner after match day 24 and also failed to relegate last four teams.
NNL on their on own part also refused to play super 8 as early agreed before the start of the season leveraging on LMC inability to relegate 4 teams.
Siasia who has handled Heartland in the past bear his mind while speaking news men.
" "It is pathetic to see what is going on in the Nigerian league. The league did not end and they declare a winner. Is that how it is done in the other part of the world?
Those that run Nigerian leagues should sit and ask questions,
If they don't know what to do they should learn and do a better job. And they still want to promote four and or four teams without relegation any team. I am not criticising them but as ex-footballer, we need to let them know when things are not going well.
He also stated the reason while the home based players will never perform at their optimal level.
"How can players park themselves on a bus and travel for 15 to 20 hours? And you want to get the best from such a player?
That is why we will continue to depend on foreign players to execute national team assignment, he concluded.
Siasia has handled various national teams in Nigeria including Super Eagles twice.
