Nigeria Olympic Trials: Okagbare, Adegoke Win 100m, Break Personal Records By Uche Dozie Blessing Okagbare and Enoch Adegoke made the track their own after winning the 100 metre finals in the male and female event of the national olympic trials ongoing at the YabaTech Sport Complex in Lagos, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Okagbare ran a scincilating race to clock 10.62 to achieve what seemed a world record at first, but was declared illegal due to (+2/7) tailwind marring the race from being a world lead, African Record or National Record The Nigerian track Queen winning time is on the 6th fastest time in history (All Conditions) being at equilibrium with Jamaica's Fraser-Pryce time of 10.63s (+1.3) behind America's Griffith-Joyner times of 10.49 (0.0), 10.54 (+3.0), 10.60 (+3.2), 10.61 (+1.2) and 10.62 (+1.0). "I have been working on everything and I hope it counts at the big stage, that's the Olympics. I was very disappointed at my last meet when I ran 11.2, I was like this is not me, so when they mentioned the trials, I said I am going to be there, not because I just want to run, but because I really want to compete and run well. Okagbare said after the race. Okagbare, in heat 3 of the women's 100m semis, went under 11s to thrill the spectators with a 10.99s time. For his part, Enoch Adegoke qualified for next month Tokyo Olympics after running a new Personal of 9.97 (1.2) which was rounded off to 10.00s to become the 4th Nigerian to qualify for the men's 100m and 12th Nigerian athlete to secure qualification. The 21-year-old clocked 10.06s to win his heat in the semi finals. It will be recalled that Adegoke was officially the fastest man in the world so far this year following his 10.16 seconds 100m run at the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) All-Comers competition held at the Sports Ground of the FUTA Akure.
