The 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations, officially known as the Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for sponsorship reasons, will be the 12th edition of the Africa Women Cup of Nations (14th edition if tournaments without hosts are included), the biennial international football championship organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the women’s national teams of Africa. The tournament will be hosted by Morocco from 2 to 23 July 2022,  BSNSports.com.ng reports Twelve teams book their place in the tournament final after qualifiers matches were concluded during the midweek. The final draw will be held on a date to be announced. The twelve teams will be drawn into three groups of four teams, with the hosts Morocco automatically seeded and assigned to Position A1 in the draw. The seedings will be based on their performance in 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations final tournament and 2022 tournament’s qualification. The tournament also doubles as the African qualifiers to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The top four teams will qualify for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, and two more teams will advance to the inter-confederation play-offs. Nigeria are the three-time defending champions, having won the tournament in 2014, 2016 and 2018. The 2020 edition, which would have been the first to feature twelve teams, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
