Nigeria stars abroad: Tammy Abraham treble show; Osimhen, Akpom, Tomori, Ajayi among the rain of goals
It was a weekend of goals and more goals for players of Nigeria descent across Europe.

Victor Osimhen cannot stop scoring in France, Chuba Akpom is firing them into the net in Greece, Semi Ajayi is getting in on the act in the Championship while Tammy Abraham remains the best of the best in the Premier League.

Soccernet.ng takes you around Europe and beyond to witness the exploits of fellow country men and women.

England

Alex Iwobi, Bournemouth 3-1 Everton

The Nigeria international was on the pitch from start till finish but could do nothing as Everton suffered a crushing 1-3 loss to the Cherries. It was the Toffees’ second league defeat of the season which saw them drop to 11th in the EPL standings.

Iwobi had scored twice in back to back wins against Lincoln City and Wolves in the EFL Cup and League match respectively but was tamed by the Bournemouth defense on Sunday.

Semi Ajayi, Fulham 1-1 West Brom

The Super Eagles defender glanced home an 80th minute header to salvage a point for West Brom in their 1-1 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage.

It was Ajayi’s first ever competitive goal for the Baggies since joining from Rotherham during the summer.

Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori: Wolves 2-5 Chelsea

Canada born defender Fikayo Tomori opened his goalscoring account with a curling effort to the top corner to give Chelsea the lead versus Wolves.

But all the applause was scooped by Anglo-Nigerian striker Tammy Abraham, who scored a hat-trick as Chelsea beat Wolves 5-2 on Saturday.

After a dull start to the season, Tammy Abraham now leads the goalscorer’s chat in England with 7 goals coming in his last three games.
Both Tomori and Abraham are still eligible to play for Nigeria and England.

Odion Ighalo, Shanghai Shenhua 0-3 Tianjin Teda

The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer returned from injury to make his first competitive appearance for Shanghai Shenhua since May 10 but his best efforts could not save the hosts from suffering a damaging 3-0 loss at the hands of Tianjin Teda.

Ighalo replaced former AS Roma star Stephan El Shaarawy just after the break with the hosts already behind by 3 goals in the Chinese Super League match staged at the Hongkou Stadium on Sunday.

Turkey

Abdullahi Shehu, Bursaspor 3-1 Osmanlispor

Super Eagles versatile full back got the opener for the hosts and was impressive throughout to help Bursaspor record a sweet 3-1 victory over Osmanlıspor.

The defender who missed the AFCON 2019 for the Super Eagles due to injury played all the 90 minutes of the encounter, his fourth in the Turkish First League this season.

Sweden

Chinedu Obasi, Haecken 1-2 AIK

The former Flying Eagles striker was one of the heroes for his club as AIK recorded a stunning away victory over Haecken at the Bravida Arena in the Sweden Allsvenskan.

Ogbuke Obasi netted the opener midway into the first half to set the visitors on their way to a 2-1 victory. It was his first goal in the league since July.

Germany

Jamilu Collins, Paderborn 1-5 Schalke

The Super Eagles left fullback and his club are hovering dangerously around the relegation places after succumbing to an embarrassing 5-1 loss at home to Schalke.

Collins was one of the better players on the pitch for the humiliated hosts, posting a personal ratings of 7.2 after completing 10 dribbles and winning two tackles.

But Paderborn endured a difficult afternoon despite taking the lead, as early as the opening 8 minutes of the encounter. However, once the visitors equalized and led later, it was all down hill from there on for the newly promoted side.

Spain

Asisat Oshoala, Rayo Vallecano 1-1 Barcelona Women

The Super Falcons striker failed to yet again find her scoring boots as FC Barcelona Femeni were held 1-1 by Rayo Vallecano in a Primera División Femenina match on Sunday.

Asisat Oshoala was thrown into the frail as Barca desperately searched for a winning goal.
