Nigeria To Play South Africa In Hockey African Nations Cup Semifinal By Our Reporter Team Nigeria suffered mixed fortunes at the ongoing Africa Hockey Cup of Nations in Ghana. The task was clear heading into Thursday's encounters, both teams must avoid defeat against their opponents to book a place in the last four. Nigeria men's team who lost 4-2 go Egypt in their first game, trashed Uganda 10-3 in their second game, needed to avoid a loss against Ghana to book a semi spots. And they did just that, Nigeria played a 1-1 draw against Ghana. Despite the home support, Nigeria Hockey men's stood their ground to grind the much needed point. Nigeria will now play the defending champions South Africa in the men's semifinal game. Egypt will host Kenya in the second semis. In the women's category, the ladies gave their best but it was not meant to be. Having played a 2-2 draw in their first game, defeated Zambia 2-1 in their second game. The task was to avoid defeat against Kenya. They scored first but the Kenyan ladies scored two goals to secure a 2-1 win which condemned Nigeria to a third place finish. Nigeria will now play Uganda today (Friday) in the classification game 5-8th. The Nigeria- Uganda tie will play the winner of the game between Namibia and Zambia to determine the 5-6th places while the losers of the clash play against each other to determine the 7-8th places.
