Nigeria U19 Volleyball Team Departs For World Championship in Tunisia

Nigeria volleyball team will depart the country on Sunday (today) for the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship holding in Tunisia, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The U19 World Championships will be held from 21st to 30th August, 2019.

Nigeria who qualified for the event for the first time is in Pool D with Dominican Republic, United States, South Korea and Russia.

South Korea are ranked 4th, USA 12th, Dominican Republic 72nd, Russia are rated 3rd best while Nigeria is rated 16th in the FIVB World Ranking.

The finals involved 20 teams, of which 19 came through qualifying competitions, while the host nation qualified automatically. Of the 20 teams, 13 had also appeared in the previous tournament in 2017, while Colombia and Nigeria made their first appearances at a FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship.

Iran is the defending champions, having won their second title in Bahrain.
