Nigeria volleyball community mourns weightlifting President

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation has expressed shock over the death of the President of Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, Mallam Yahaya Mohammed.

Mohammed also known as "big man" by the sports sector died at the weekend at the Aminu Kano Hospital in Kano after a brief illness.

The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod described Late Mohammed as a changer who invested heavily in youth development.

Nimrod stated that Late Yahaya Mohammed worked with passion and vision to take Nigeria Weightlifting Federation to new heights. 

He said, "Weightlifting in Nigeria will miss the services of Yahaya Mohammed because he did well to promote and project the Federation during his time as President. 

"His contribution to Nigeria's success at the 2019 African Games in Morocco cannot be overlooked. The Federation under his watch secured 16 gold, 13 silver and 18 bronze medals.

Nimrod hailed late Muhammed for strengthening YSFON in Jigawa state by ensuring that the state participated in all  YSFON National activities.

"Mohammed did not only invest in weightlifting but contributed to the growth of sports in Jigawa state as chairman", Nimrod said.
