By Sampson Adedeji

Ahead of the international friendly matches coming up in October, Dutch Eredivisie side, Sparta Rotterdam, has confirmed the receipt of invitation letter sent by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to the club about its goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Okoye made his Super Eagles debut in an international friendly match against five-time world champions, Brazil in November 2019.

He was on the bench for 2021 African Cup Of Nations qualifier against Benin Republic and Lesotho and was invited for the double-header game against Leone Stars of Sierra Leone before corona virus disrupted football activities.

Sparta Rotterdam on Friday evening confirmed Okoye's invitation via its social media handle.

"Maduka Okoye has been included in Nigeria's final squad. The Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper is simply international of the Super Eagles. With Nigeria, he will compete against Ivory Coast (on October 9) and Tunisia (October 13). The matches will be played in Austria," the club said.

Nigeria will resume international football in October with friendly matches against Cote d'Ivoire and Tunisia in Austria.
