  Nigeria Vs Sierra Leone: Why Edo State Govt Wants To Throw Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Open - FA Chairman By Niyi Busari Edo State Football Assciation Chairman, Ambassador Henry Osaro, has said that the State Government statement that the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium will be thrown open was made out of joy as the governor is to be sworn-in a day before the match, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The Chairman added that the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki also wants to seize the opportunity to show the world the edifice on which he has spent the taxpayers' money. In his words, "What do you expect from a man who is going to be sworn-in on the 12th and for the first time they're opening the stadium. He has used the taxpayer money to build an edifice. So you will expect people to come and see what he has spent their money on. This is the first stadium in Nigeria with VAR. You cannot blame him, he made the statement out of excitement and out of joy. The Presidential Task Force on Coronavirus condemned the governor's statement saying it is against Coronavirus protocol. The governor however rescinded the decision of throwing open the stadium gates saying that the Coronavirus protocol will be observed at the stadium on the match-day. "He said let throw the gate open but now that PTF has said otherwise as a law abiding citizen, I think he is going to abide by it. We have to abide to the issue of Covid19 protocol. It is spelt out that football should be played under the close doora and I am sure that is what is going to happen. He is however happy that Edo state is hosting Super Eagles match in his time as Chairman. "It is a thing of joy that in my time as Chairman such a match is coming up and I think it is a good one. He assured all traveling fans who wish to watch the Nigeria versus Sierra Leone AFCON qualifier game of safety. "There is nothing to fear about. Edo state is a very conducive place. If you check the record of state with Covid 19, Edo state is one the state with less Coronavirus patients. Ambassador Osaro is optimistic that the Super Eagles will defeat Sierra Leone in Edo. "I dont expect anything short of winning and coming to the ancient city of Benin, where victory is always guaranteed, I think Super Eagle will win." He concluded. The three time African champion will lock horn with Sierra Leone on 13th November at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Edo state while the second leg holds on 17th November in Freetown,Sierra Leone.
