NIGERIAN amateur golfers set for WORLD CUP (AGWC) qualifiers. 

 Nigeria's participation in this year’s Amateur Golf World Cup Championship in Spain will not be a jamboree as the AGWC Country Partner & organisers are putting finishing touches to the preparations for the qualifiers which comes up on Saturday, the 6th of July, 2019 at IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja. 

Speaking to journalists, the Country Partner, Faridah Wada whose Company, TW MULTIMEDIA LTD. won the bid for the country, said two players out of over 100 registered amateur golfers will be selected to fly the country's flag in Spain come September.

 The two winners irrespective of gender must be from two Categories . Category 1 -0-14 & Category 2 -15 - 28. The winners will be sponsored to the Finals with all expenses paid. Faridah Wada said though Nigeria will be participating in the tournament for the first time, but optimistic that our players will be playing to win.    She’s excited about the event as she anticipates that the event will create competition among amateurs around the world as well as foster unity among the players. She however warned that players must be conversant with the rules of the game, and be capable of defending their handicap. 

Over 20 countries including USA, Germany, France, China, United Kingdom, Italy, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Ivory Coast are taking part in the 3days tournament. The Organizers are also encouraging those who will not qualify but wish to participate, to come along to Spain to support their Country’s flag bearers while playing in their own three days guests’ tournament. Faridah Wada expressed her gratitude to WELLS CARLTON HOTEL & APARTMENTS and NIGERIAN LOCAL CONTENT DEVELOPMENT BOARD, for their support. She acknowledges that this qualifier is made possible because these two Organizations keyed into it.

She appealed to other well-meaning organizations to see the potentials of golf as a sport capable of taking Nigera to greater heightsShe said she looks forward to the day Nigeria will become one of the nations that has keyed into the global multi billion dollar golf-tourism.
