Akwa Utd set for Akwa Ibom Super Four Tournament

Nigeria Professional Football League outfit Akwa United FC will take part in the maiden edition of the Akwa Ibom Super Four Tornament schedule to take place in Uyo from Wednesday 4th- Friday 6th July 2018.
The Mid-Season tournament is organised by the Akwa Ibom State Football Association in collaboration with four football clubs in the state and it will take place at the Uyo Township Stadium.
The Promise Keepers resumed training last week after 18 days FIFA World Cup break. The Promise Keepers will use the tournament to give their players match fitness ahead of the resumption of the second round of the NPFL later this month.
Addressing officials of all the participating teams, and the organisers of the tournament, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Sports Elder Paul Bassey explained that the essence of the competition is to help all the teams prepare well for the second round of the football league season and the Aiteo Cup which Akwa United and Cofine FC will represent the state later this year.
In a remark, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth and Sports Coach Aniedi Dickson said the tournament will provide the participating teams ample opportunity to compete with some of the best teams in the state, while also helping the players of the respective teams to showcase skills and knowledge learnt from the ongoing FIFA World Cup currently taking place in Russia.
Also speaking, the Chairman Akwa Ibom State Football Association Mr. Emmanuel Iba assured that the FA will provide all the logistics needed to ensure the tournament is hitch-free and he called on football fans in the state to take advantage of the tournament and watch the best of football from Akwa Ibom State teams.
At the draw ceremony conducted in Uyo on Sunday, all the participating teams Akwa United FC, Ibom Youth FC, Akwa Starlets FC and Cofine FC were drawn against each other in a round-robin format and the team that will finish top of the group will emerge as the winners of the tournament.
Akwa United are competing in the Nigeria Professional Football League, Akwa Starlets play in the Nigeria National League while Ibom Youth FC and Cofine FC are playing in the Nationwide League which is the third tier of league football in Nigeria

Cofine FC vs Akwa Starlets (2pm)
Akwa United vs Ibom Youth (4pm)
Thursday 5th July
Akwa Starlets vs Akwa United (2pm)
Ibom Youth FC vs Cofine FC (4pm)
Friday 6th July
Ibom Youth vs Akwa Starlets (7am)
Akwa United vs Cofine FC (9:30am)
