FIFA Technical Instructor to 2018 FIFA MA Course for Elite Referee and Referee Assesors to Nigeria, Felix Tangwarima has said that the Nigerian referees will go places with the level of training and seminars they are having within and outside the country.
He stressed that the training is more of practical on the field because the most problems emanate from the field and not in the class room. They are also trained on 'instant feedback' where they will record their actions on the field while officiating, then sit and watch so as to correct and minimise the human errors.
Felix, who urged Nigerian referees to imbibe the developmental programme because a lot of things have changed and should be on top of their game with the trainings and seminars they have.
"I have been able to see the positive within Nigerian referees, if they can imbibe the developmental programme. A lot of things have changed and Nigerian referees are going to be on top of their games with what I have witnessed so far.
"We are here because this course is quite different from others due to the practical and theory imbedded in it. FIFA discovered that in as much as it is important to train them in the class, it is more important to do the practicalities on the field because the problems are on the field and not in the class."
He concluded by saying that with the level of training and seminar they are being engaged, they soon be officiating at the highest level.
"They are trained on 'instant feedback' where they will record their actions on the field while officiating, watch to correct and minimised errors while carrying out their duties."
