Sports loving Nigerians have attributed the stellar performance of Team Nigeria at the ongoing 2019 African Games in Morocco to the legacy of former Minister of Sports, Solomon Selcap Dalung during his reign in office.
The gold rush at the ongoing 2019 African Games in Morocco that catapulted Nigeria to the second position is attributed to stellar performance which shows extend of work that has gone under in the last four years of Solomon Dalung during his stay in office .
Though, a lot of people vilified Solomon Dalung usually on the basis of things he says but on the basis of practical things he did for Nigerian sports, i think we are beginning to reap the benefit of what he was trying to do because at the moment his decision to push the development of sports to the hands of the private people.
When he was doing what we are reaping today many people do not understand but we are here today celebrating his legacies at the African Games
Solomon Dalung created an enabling environment for many federation presidents to come on board through his democratization of sports federation's elections.
Many federations president whose sports are performing well wouldn't have been there if not his democratization that brought capable hands into the position.
However, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare started on a good note and is expected to surpass Dalung's achievement. With few days in office, he has visited the MKO Abiola stadium, Ahmadu Bello stadium with the aim of improving their facilities which have gone bad due lack of maintenance.
