Nigerians players round up in English Championship for Saturday

  By Omolagba Oluwayemi The battle for promotion to the EPL from the Championship is always intensed and some football fans said the Championship is more competitive than the Premier League itself due to the number of participating teams while some disagree completely. Teams gets promoted and relegated and most times it is the teams with the brightest starts that ends up gaining promotion and at times it is doesn't happen that way. Just like last season, teams are fighting to earn a place in the top league next season. Like other leagues, there are some Nigerians who plies their trade in the second tier of the English League and BSNsports.com.ng takes a look at how they performed on Saturday. Bournemouth 0 - 0 Queens Park Rangers. Both team have players of Nigerian decent in their rank. Nnamdi Ofoborh was an unused sub for AFC Bournemouth while Bright Osayi-Samuel who currently plies his trade with QPR was on the pitch for 67 minutes. Middlesbrough 0 - 0 Reading. Chuba Apom could not help Middlesbrough secure the maximum point when they hosted Reading who also paraded another Nigerian, Sone Aluko. Chuba Apom was on for the entire duration for Middleborough why Aluko was an 81st minute sub. Luton Town 0 - 2 Stoke City. John Obi Mikel was solid in the midfield as his Stoke City got the maximum point away from home. The win lift Stoke City to 8th place on the log a point behind Luton Town whom they defeated. Birmingham City 0 - 1 Sheffield Wednesday Moses Odubajo was on for the entire duration as his Sheffield Wednesday got an important 3 points away from home. Blackburn Rovers 0 - 1 Nottingham Forest Sammy Ameobi and his side, Nottingham Forest also enjoyed a one nil win away from home. Amoebi was on for the entire duration. Nigerian defender Daniel Ayala was also on for the entire duration for Blackburn Rovers. Rotherham United 1 - 2 Norwich City. Freddie Ladapo scored a goal and also missed a penalty in Rotterdam's 1 - 2 home loss to Norwich City. Wycombe Wanderers 1 - 2 Millwall. Fred Onyedinma and Dennis Adeniran started for Wycombe Wanderers who are still searching for their first win in the division. Both players were substituted in the second half. Meanwhile Adebayo Akinfenwa who also plays for Wycombe Wanderers was a second half substitute. No doubt that all these players are doing fine in the English second division although some of them are not playing for any of the Nigerian national team at the moment but one certain thing is they'll definitely get their chance one day if they up their games.
