London born ex-Super Eagles defender, Sam Sodje has said that the Nigeria senior national team have quality talented players capable of winning the next African Cup of Nations in Cameroon, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Sodje who thrown his weight behind Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr to qualify the three time African champions to the 2022 World Cup warned that Nigerians will not accept any excuse if he fails to lift the AFCON title in 2021.
Sodje who in November 2005, made his debut for Nigeria in a 3–0 friendly defeat to Romania in Bucharest made this known while speaking on Sports Arena with Ahmad Emmanuel {Radio Wizard} of Jatto 102.7 Fm, he said: "We have come a long way with the players we have now in the Super Eagles because we got so much talents coming through. I have no doubt in my mind that we will make it to the world cup. I am even picking the Super Eagles to win the next African Nations Cup."
"I am not going to vouch for Gernot Rohr because I have not worked with him but all I can say is that, with the caliber of players he has in the squad, an average manager will do a decent job. But if a team doesn't have the structure, such team will not go anywhere.
"With the talented young players in the Eagles right now, he has no excuse than to go all the way and win the AFCON and also qualify and do well at the World Cup." He concluded.
Sodje who was born in 1979, played for West Brom, Chalton Athletics, Portsmouth among others during his playing days.
