NNL Announces Super 8 Play-off To Hold Saturday By Niyi Busari The management of Bet9ja Nigeria National League, NNL has said that the Super 8 play-off will be held this weekend at the Aba Township stadium, BSNSports.com.ng reports. According to the media officer of the second tier league body, Mr Amar Ignis, who spoke on phone with BSN Sports, he said, the arrival date for all the eight teams is set for Friday while hostilities resume on Saturday. "NNL has concluded plans to host the Super 8 play-off this weekend as all the eight teams are expected to arrive Abia state on Friday while actions starts on Saturday." Recall that NNL has in their last month Annual General Assembly in Abuja proposed eight team promotion to the elite league while no team will be relegated to the Nationwide League. However, their proposal is subjected to the approval of the Nigeria Football Federation and NFF had last weekend maintained that the Super 8 play-off should be played in a neutral ground. The two top teams from each four abridged league are to play in a round-robin format where the top four teams automatically qualify for the 2018/19 NPFL season. The eight clubs include; 3sc, Bendel Insurance, Gombe United, Delta Force, Remo Stars, Kogi United, Kada City, and Real Stars. This decision has led to the resignation of the CEO of the Bet9ja NNL, Bukola Olopade. Kada city have announced their withdrawal from the play-off. Meanwhile, the NNL Club Owners Association has called an emergency meeting at Nero hotels in Abuja on Wednesday where they are expected to meet and decide on the play-off.
