History is about to be made in Nigerian football as Bendel Insurance football Club of Benin have concluded plans to feed their chairman and Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu against their arch rivals, 3SC of Ibadan on Wednesday.

The Benin Arsenal will be hosting the Shooting Stars of Ibadan in the Nigeria National League week 17 rescheduled game on Wednesday, October 31 which Kicks off by 4.00 pm at the university of Benin sports complex, Benin.

According to the media officer of Bendel Insurance, Kehinde Osagiede, the athletic Deputy Governor who is a registered player of the club with jersey No. 40 will be leading the attack of the host team against the visiting Oluyole Warriors. The media officer revealed that the comrade deputy Governor has been training regularly with the other players of the club hoping to be featured before end of the current season. His training has been a great moral booster to his teammates.
BSN Sports was reliably informed that the sports loving Deputy Governor has passed fitness test and therefore fit into the game plan against the Shooting Stars.
Comrade Shaibu who has been outstandingly supportive to the club since his assumption of office, if eventually featured in the midweek epic game will be making history as the first serving Deputy Governor to have featured in a competitive football match in the country.
He would be pairing with the team's top strikers Jnr Osaghae and Ugwu in the attack line up as he has always enjoyed playing striking role even in his playing days with his former club, Julius Berger FC in Abuja.
The Insurers are on the threshold of return to the country's premier league as a win against 3SC in Benin will automatically seal their promotion to the NPFL.
Insurance currently occupy second position on the league table in group B1 with 26 points while their visitors top the table with 28 points,but Insurance have their last match against the Spartans of Lagos next week while 3sc are playing their last game of the season in Benin.
The two soccer giants in battle of supremacy as the Wednesday game is being described by football followers in Benin as the clash of the Titans that could define the status of both teams with the League season coming to an end.
Both teams played goalless draw in Ibadan when Insurance visited in the first round of the season and the host team will want to take home advantage to get the maximum points they need to finish top of the table and secure promotion to the elite football division.
Insurance go into the battle with confidence having recorded first away win against J.Atete in Warri last week Thursday.
