NNL Dispels Match-Fixing Rumour As Bendel Insurance Remain Focused On Promotion By Niyi Busari The Nigeria National League, NNL has debunked insinuations and rumour making rounds over unsubstantiated report that there is match fixing at the ongoing Super 8 in Enugu. Report emerged that clubs are engaging in manipulative tendencies with Bendel Insurance accused of orchestrating the plan. However, the NNL management has come out to deny the report describing it as frivolous. NNL’s media officer, Amar Ignis in a statement on Thursday said all the eight clubs in Enugu are enjoying a level playing field for the Super 8 adding that there is no truth in the said report. “The report about match fixing is to say the least frivolous. There is no truth in the report. All the clubs are enjoying a level playing field and officiating so far has been near perfect,” Amar stated. He stressed that NNL’s only interest is to see the best four teams gain promotion to the elite division of the nation’s domestic league. “We are in Enugu to ensure that the best four teams qualify for the NPFL. Those peddling allegations of match fixing are only being mischievous,” Amar insisted. Meanwhile, Bendel Insurance on their part stated that it is simply wicked for anybody to accuse the club of not playing to the rule. The Coordinator of Bendel Insurance, Sabina Amiemenoghena said Insurance players would not be distracted on the tasks ahead of them. “We are focusing on the task ahead and we are here to get the job done by fair means,” he was quoted. "The management of NNL to the best of my knowledge has been fair to all. And that's what gave us the confidence that we will do our best to be among teams that will play in the 2021/22 NPFL. Insurance will face Ekiti United in a must win game after the 2-1 defeat they suffered in the hands of 3SC in their very first game. In her reaction, Sabina said, "Let's see how it goes, everything is in God's hand but as for the game, we are in high spirits and ready to go for the three points against Ekiti United."
