By Moses Ojewumi

Gateway United FC are poised to maintain its 100 percent home record in match day 5 clash against Abia Comets this Saturday December 21st at the MKO Abiola Int'l Stadium.

The Ogun State football outfit suffered its first loss of the season in the hands of Go Round FC of Omoku in match day 4 by 0-1 after back to back home wins against Giant Brillars and Apex Krane at home.

Despite the loss, Gateway United FC remain third on the log with 6 points, 4 points adrift of 3SC on the top and three points behind the second placed team Osun United FC.

However, the week 5 opponents Abia Comets are yet to win on the road this season and their only win so far was a 1-0 defeat of Ibom Youths in match day 4.

It would be recalled that the last time both sides met was two seasons ago, precisely 2017/2018. After a barren draw in Abia, Gateway United pipped them 1 -nil in Abeokuta.

The match day 5 clash is the last encounter for all NNL teams this year, afterwards , the league will go on break and resume January 10, 2020 for Matchday 6.
