NNL: Nnwei United coach faces imminent sack

NNL:
Nnewi United, a second tier Nigeria league side is set to wield the big stick following the club’s harvest of woes in the current 2020/2021 NNL League, BSNSports.com.ng reports. United have merely garnered two points from a possible 12 following the conclusion of four rounds of matches. Checks reveal that coach Obi was earlier handed a three match ultimatum during which time the club picked only two points in two drawn games. It was understood that management of the club had to bend down backwards by allowing the coach see through two more games. “This is to ensure that he was given fair and enough opportunity”, an official told BSNSports without wanting to be named in print. “We’ve lost one of the two games (at Ekiti Utd) and we have the last game this Wednesday against Calabar Rovers at Rojenny Games and Tourists Village, our home ground, here in Oba”. A win could force the management to sheath their swords. But it was gathered that nobody is happy over the poor performances of the team despite massive welfare package the players enjoy. “You are not new to this club. Last season, we had a bunch of determined and committed players. “Even in the face of hard economic situations, they always fight to the finish. Some times after training or match, they would treck home to camp and carry buckets looking for water. “But that is not the case now. Everything is in place for them, water, DSTV, two square meals every day. “So, what’s the reason they are not committed? The management headed by Olisa (Onuchukwu) has been doing marvellously well for the team. “Unfortunately, some of the players lack commitment, otherwise, how could you concede a goal the manner we did against Vandrezzer in our last home game”, an official lamented.
