NNL: Tornadoes Pick Vital Point In Damaturu
By Admin
Niger Tornadoes Football Club Of Minna recorded an away point in Damaturu against hard fighting Yobe Desert Stars, in what could be best described as an action parked and dramatic ninety minutes of football at the August 17 Stadium.
The coach Mustapha Audu tutored side, Yobe Desert Stars did not allow their visitors to settle into the game, before seizing the initiative, courtesy of Funom Paul's early goal, which came in the nineteenth minutes of play after his wonder shot caught Niger Tornadoes goal keeper Lucky Jimoh napping, sending the home fans into a wild jubilation.
The Minna based outfit, however raised the tempo of their game as they began to match Yobe Desert Stars by size, launching series of attacks in search of an equaliser but the visitors failed get the goal to show for their dominant display in the first half.
On resumption into the second half Tornadoes look to the bench for quick changes, introducing Abdulkadir Zango and Sam Victor Abata, the dou quickly settled into the game adding more fire powers to the Ikon Allah Boys play.
Ceaseless pressures mounted by the Coach Bala boys earned them a Free Kick in the sixty fifth minute few inches away from the centre circle. And as usual, Tornadoes players paved way for free kick specialist Afeez Nosiru who wasted no time in weeping the ball past Yobe Stars goalie and into the net, in his usual trade mark, for the equaliser.
The atmosphere at the Stadium became tensed as both teams continue to muzzle each other in search of a winner, with Tornadoes missing clear cut chances, even as most of their moves were frustrated by needless calls of the whistle.
After the sound of the whistle Coach Abubakar Bala Mohammed praised his boys for the fighting spirit, saying his target was an outright victory but will take the draw to Minna and strategize for the next game.
Coach Bala however refused to comment on the officiating, saying his job is only in the Technical aspect…
Niger Tornadoes next Saturday will play hosts to EFCC FC in the match-day 3 of the 2019/20 NNL season at the Kotangora stadium.
