North-East U-17 Girls Volleyball Championship Kicks-Off in Taraba By Our Reporter The 2021 female U-17 Volleyball championship for the North East region has commenced in Jalingo, Taraba state capital. The championship which officially started Friday is organized by the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development and would end on Sunday. Team Taraba, Adamawa, Yobe, and Gombe are in attendance, while Team Bauchi and Borno did not show up. The four teams on Friday played their first games at the volleyball court of the Jolly Nyame stadium. Team Adamawa who faced Team Yobe in the first game of the competition won both rounds while the host, Team Taraba also defeated team Gombe. It was however learned that Team Borno pulled out of the competition due to the risky nature of the road from Maiduguri to Taraba. It could however not be verified why Team Bauchi did not show up, but a source claimed it was due to lack of sponsorship.
