Nothing wrong with Eagles travelling to Benin by boat —Pinnick

Amaju Pinnick, the President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has responded to comments after it was revealed the Super Eagles will be travelling by boat for their African Cup of Nations qualifier against the Benin Republic, BSNSports.com.ng reports. According to Pinnick, he sees nothing wrong with that means of transportation. This comes after coach Gernot Rohr disclosed that the team will likely go by boat to avoid the bad roads that link Nigeria and the neighbouring Benin Republic. “But because the road is not good between Lagos and Cotonou, we will travel to the match on a boat because the crossing only lasts two hours, instead of many hours on poor roads,” he said. This raised concerns among the players. However, Pinnick who appeared on ARISE News programme, The Morning Show, on Wednesday said he sees nothing wrong with going by boat. “Going to Cotonou by boat, I do that all the time. When we were going to inspect we did it. There is nothing wrong with exploring other forms of adventure in Nigeria,” Pinnick said. He, however, said the NFF is yet to conclude on the means of transporting the players for the AFCON game. The AFCON qualifier against Benin Republic has been fixed for Saturday, March 27 in Port Novo.
