English club release ex-Super Eagles star Ameobi, 10 others

English League Two outfit Notts County have released former Super Eagles forward, Shola Ameobi and ten others.
The 36-year-old, who is also out of contract at the club, tops a list of 11 players who were let go by the side following their failed promotion bid to League One.

"I would like to put on record my thanks to all of the players who are moving on and wish them all the best for their future.
"I can't thank the lads enough for their committed efforts in my first full season here." Notts County boss Kevin Nolan told the club website.
Players Released includes: Shola Ameobi, Adam Collin, Carl Dickinson, Mike Edwards, Jonathan Forte, Elliot Hodge, Nicky Hunt, Rob Milsom, Callum Saunders, Alan Smith, Curtis Thompson.
Ameobi made 53 appearances for the club in all competition and hit the back of the net ten times during his two-year spell with Notts County since his arrival from Fleetwood Town.
Ex-Newcastle United star featured for Premier League clubs Crystal Palace, Stoke City, Championship side Bolton Wanderers and Turkish club, Gazisehir Gaziantep, and he was part of late Stephen Keshi squad for 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Ex-Stoke City striker is now a free agent and will be willing to player for at least another two seasons before he thinks of retirement.
