NPFL MD 6 Report: 10-Man Pillars Beat Rivers United

Rivers United failed to return to the league summit after falling 1-0 to ten-man Kano Pillars in Kaduna, BSNsports.com.ng reports.
The Pride of Rivers came into the match in a high spirit having despatched their CAF Confederations Cup opponent, Bloemfontein Celtic 5-0 on aggregate to set up a qualifying round tie with Enyimba of Aba, but fell behind as early as the 17th minute through Nwagua Nyima goal for Pillars.
Rabiu Ali could have doubled the lead for Pillars in the 35th minutes when he spot Afelokhai off his line but his under hit effort was saved.
Six minutes into the second half, Pillars were reduced to ten men after Abbas Rabiu was sent off for deliberately handling the ball, but Pillars held on to the early lead and moved to 5th on the log with 11 points, a point behind Rivers United who are in second and 3 points behind leaders Nasarawa United.
