FC IFEANYI UBAH MAINTAIN UNBEATEN STATUS WITH ANOTHER CLEAN SHEET AGAINST GO ROUND FC
By IYKE NWOKEDI
FC Ifeanyi Ubah on sunday earned their third clean sheet with a scoreless affair against Go Round FC in one of the match day three fixtures of the abridged 2019 Nigerian Professional Football League season. The technical crew made two changes to the side that defeated Nasarawa United last weekend with former El Kanemi defender Promise James and feeder team graduate Nzediegwu Nonso getting the nod ahead of Didi Komboye and Chisom David.
Chances were few and far between in the first period as the home side kicked off with real sense of urgency and fluidity in the early exchange with an unmarked Samuel Onukwube firing wide in the third minute. Oghali Shedrack's assist in the form of an inviting cross saw Sadiq Umar heading over the upright. The Anambra Warriors could only muster couple of half chances and stifling the the plans of the home side to see off the half.
The second period was a case of intense midfield battle from both sides who adopted a classical massive attack and defensive strategy with chances of breaking the deadlock never in sight. However it was the Anambra Warriors who had the best chance of the half from substitute Ugwuke Emmanuel who was quite unlucky as he narrowly missed the target from about six yards out after a brilliant ball into his path from an overlapping Udeh Chinonso in the 81st minute of the contest. The Anambra Warriors held on with poise, resilience, team spirit and composed defending in the closing stages of the game to grind out a well deserved point.
The Anambra Warriors will host Yobe Desert Stars on Wednesday at the fortress in match day four of the abridged league season.
